A little more about Dahlias and Dreams!

A creative studio elevating
the design of flowers, gardens & spaces

where intention meets beauty, and everything begins to bloom

Origin story & mission

Who doesn’t love an origin story?

If you’ve ever felt lighter, calmer, or more yourself when fresh flowers are in your home—or while walking through a blooming garden—you already understand the heart of my work.

Flowers and plants are scientifically proven to uplift our spirits and shift the energy of a space. But long before I knew the science, I felt the truth of it in my own life.

I found flowers during a major life transition in 2021—one that asked me to slow down, listen inward, and reconnect with what truly mattered. Working with flowers helped me return to myself. They reawakened my creativity, grounded me in nature, and reminded me that beauty can be both healing and practical.

Dahlias, in particular, felt like a natural language for me—expressive, layered, resilient, and quietly powerful. What began as personal healing slowly became something I felt called to share.

More than just “flowers,” it’s feminine creativity. IYKYK.

Creativity allows us to relax, let go, expand our minds, and express ourselves through multi-faceted ways that result in something that looks, feels, smells, sounds—or simply holds beauty. Beauty makes our homes, dinners, events, and everyday celebrations more graceful, harmonious, whimsical, and full of color, texture, and wonder.

Dahlias & Dreams was created from that place: a desire to bring beauty, intention, and energized living into everyday spaces—homes, gardens, gatherings, and moments that deserve to feel special.

Hi I’m Jess Seilheimer!

As someone who has personally reset her life — relocated, released a long career, bought and renovated a home, created a new community, new habits, and a more intentional way of living — I understand how powerful the feelings of beauty, creativity, and harmony can be in supporting who we are becoming.

Life brings us down many paths, and an unexpected one led me here!

After two decades as an executive in brand strategy and advertising in NYC, I took a big leap in 2020 and moved to the beachy harbor town of Centerport, Long Island. In the years that followed, I let go of a career identity that no longer fit, rooted into a slower, more creative lifestyle, and began rebuilding my life from the inside out — one choice, one habit, one room, one garden bed at a time.

I leaned into creativity, nature, and the quiet intelligence of designing a life that felt aligned rather than performative.

During that season of change, flowers found me.

Working with flowers, gardens, and natural beauty helped me reconnect to myself in a way nothing else had. I experienced firsthand how being surrounded by living, growing things can soften the nervous system, lift the spirit, and remind us of who we are beneath the noise. That connection to beauty — and to nature — became both grounding and transformational.

In 2023, Dahlias & Dreams was born.

What began as a love of growing dahlias and sharing flowers with neighbors evolved into something much deeper: a creative studio devoted to designing harmony through florals, gardens, and energetically aligned spaces. Over the past three years, Dahlias & Dreams has grown organically — expanding from bouquets into floral design, garden design, energetic home alignment, and creative events and experiences that support people through moments of celebration, creativity, and self-expression!

As my own journey deepened, so did my work.

In 2024, I became attuned and certified in Reiki I/II and Integrated Energy Therapy (IET). Integrating Reiki into Dahlias & Dreams felt like a natural extension of what I was already doing — clearing what no longer belongs and creating space to allow for what’s next. Not as something separate from design, but as another layer of care, intention, and presence.

Today, I’m grateful to offer my work through four interconnected offerings: Dream Florals, Dream Gardens, Dream Homes, and Dream Life — each rooted in the belief that intentional design can feel as good as it looks.

Through florals, gardens, and energetic rituals, I help people, homes, and shared spaces feel more harmonious, beautiful, and alive. I often see that when a home or shared space comes back into harmony, relationships do too — between partners, families, friends, and even within ourselves. I work with homeowners, real estate professionals, and creative partners who value environments that support ease, clarity, and a true sense of being at home.

I’m most proud of my self-worth, authenticity, and brightness — and the courage it takes to live from creativity and spiritual gifts with warmth, compassion, and intelligence in service of others. I care deeply about people, their hearts, and the spaces that hold them, as well as the land, gardens, and environments that support our collective well-being.

I am a woman who chose herself — and then designed a life, inner and outer, that continues to hold that choice.
Flowers simply happen to be the language my soul speaks fluently, and I'm grateful to share this language with you!

Flowers are the ultimate creative expression!

Be yourself; everyone else is taken.

I express myself through whimsical, feminine, flowy elevated floral designs in beautiful unexpected ways.

I started designing as part of the Centerport Garden Club activities. I entered a few flower shows and loved the creative process, how energized/free I felt

(but I didn’t, and still don’t love the competition/judging at flower shows!)

I follow sustainable design protocols (I try not use flower foam often, protect the earth!)
I also enjoy utilizing unique vessels to hold the designs I create.

I also enjoy volunteering to lead floral design classes with kids age 6-12 at the Harborfields Library, kids are so creative!
